Construction Software
Any software for budgeting in construction?
I work for a construction company, and I need a software that can count for example, how many blocks will I need to build certain wall that is x feet wide and x feet tall and how much concrete will I need to do that. Its more like a material counter or something like that…. I will appreciate all the help I can get, thanks in advance!
There are numerous programs both for doing quantity survey or “take-off” and building cost estimates. The top of the line take-off software out there is OnCenter’s OST Take-Off. You download digital copies of your construction blueprints into a file, and basically trace the different items on the drawings and OST does calculations to figure out items like square footage, cubic yards, lineal feet and segment counts like you are referring to. There also some smaller take-off programs like Bids2Win, Goldenseal, BidEst, and Timberline Estimating. Some of these programs also have spreadsheets that you can input the data into and designate cost to create a realistic construction budget. OST does not have it’s own bid template, but you can import your take-off into an MS Excel spreadsheet that you’ve designed yourself. There are tons of different Software Programs out there for estimating, you just have to do the research to find out which one is right for you. But my personal recomendation is OST Take-off for quantity survey and importing it into your own spreadsheet that you are comfortable working with. Good Luck.
