I’m being audited for a mistake that I’ve made on my tax return from 2005-2008. I listed my rental income incorrectly on Schedule E because I did not fully understand how to list this as my income. I only entered the amount of $700. as being paid for the entire year as oppose to $8400 which is what I should have listed after much reading over the last few weeks. I used H&R block Online Software. At this point I really need to know how much this is going to cost me. I’m sort of afraid to file my taxes before my upcoming audit. I don’t know whether to go ahead and start an amendment before my audit, or just let them tell me whatever I owe? I really could use some advice on this issue. Thanks
